The Junius B. Booth Society, Inc. wishes to spotlight our Vice-President Mike Brown, who lives in Havre de Grace, Maryland, with his wife, Irmgarde, and their three children. Mike was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia where he majored in television and film broadcasting and received a Bachelor of Journalism degree with a minor in theatre and dramatic arts. Mike worked at Public Broadcasting Atlanta for ten years in video production. Since 1986, Mike has been employed by the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground in video production.

He has appeared in numerous community theatre productions and had bit parts in two movies. Mike enjoys comedy and says he never takes himself too seriously. Mike’s Christian faith is an important guiding principle in his life and he currently volunteers with the Maryland chapter of Kairos, an organization that reaches out to prisoners and their families. A keen interest in history led Mike to research, write, and perform in his own one-man show on General Robert E. Lee.

Mike has served as Vice-President of the Junius B. Booth Society throughout 2010. In addition, he has volunteered as a tour guide with the Spirits of Tudor Hall since 2008. Spirits of Tudor Hall is a collaboration of the Junius B. Booth Society, the Center for the Arts, and the Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation. The purpose of Spirits of Tudor Hall is to open Tudor Hall (home of Shakespearean actors Junius, Edwin, and John Wilkes Booth) for public tours on a regular basis.

We consider Mike as a valuable asset to the Junius B. Booth Society due to his willing spirit, his enthusiasm for our mission and his ability to bring history of Tudor Hall to life through the guided tours he leads at this historic house.

The Junius B. Booth Society, Inc. was created to make the public more aware of the individual members of the Booth family and Tudor Hall. The society also supports the Booth Research Center located at the Historical Society of Harford County. The Junius B. Booth Society is staffed entirely by volunteers. The society has a number of positions open for a variety of volunteers including people with public relations, graphic design and accounting experience as well as people who are familiar with the challenges of building a strong and productive non-profit organization.
